2.7 hectares of African
creative sovereignty

Village is not a project. It is a permanent institution. The land is owned. The trees are planted. The solar arrays are spec'd. What rises here will still be standing in 2125 — because it was built to last, not to impress a quarterly report.

Built on 17 years of practitioner-led work by 2 Masks & a Griot Theatre, Village has a foundation that no other creative hub on the continent can claim.

What is Village

A commons for the African creative century

Village is not a venue for hire. It is a permanent, sovereign creative campus — carbon-neutral by design, community-governed, built for the century ahead. The foundations of 2 Masks & a Griot Theatre and Flint Productions run through every beam and every programme.

For years, 2MG Theatre made extraordinary work in borrowed spaces. In the end, that experience became the reason to build something the community would never have to borrow. Village is what happens when gratitude turns into sovereignty.

2 Masks and a Griot — 17 years of practice
"When Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka told us he hoped we would have access to a great borrowed space for long, we thought: why not just create a great community-owned space for all time? That thought became Village."

Our Planet

Carbon-neutral is not aspirational.
It is operational.

Village was designed carbon-neutral from the ground up. Every building material, energy system, water circuit, and supply chain decision runs through one question: can we verify this? If we cannot, we do not make the claim.

Gold Standard certification is our active aim and our development pathway is being built toward it. Every infrastructure decision — from solar to water recirculation to the 4,535 trees on site — is made with that standard in view.

You Asked. We Answer.

The questions we get asked most — answered honestly

Village does not hide behind vagueness. If your question is not here, use the contact form below.

Is Village open yet?
Village is in active development at Plot 847, Wuye District, Abuja. The Mbari Plaza, Village Square, and Amphitheatre are taking shape on site. A soft launch will happen in due course — people will soon be able to come in and experience Village for the first time. The 2MG community, which has called many spaces home over 17 years, will have its permanent home here too. Watch this space.
Who is behind Village?
Village is built by three institutions with combined roots going back nearly two decades in Abuja's creative life.

Flint Productions is a 17-year multimedia company whose investment strategy has never been purely financial — it is about building and strengthening ecosystems for growth. When COVID revealed the full fragility of cultural and creative infrastructure, Flint's response was to build something more permanent than the threat. Village is that response.

2 Masks & a Griot Theatre (2MG) brings 20+ productions and a festival with a Nobel Laureate patron. It is the practitioner foundation on which Village's programming and philosophy are built.

ACOND led the process that secured Abuja's UNESCO City of Literature designation in October 2025 — Village is not adjacent to that designation. It is built by the people who led it.

Together, these three institutions are building a hub for creative enterprise and practice on and from the African continent. Village Global Holding Limited is the parent entity. Professor Wole Soyinka is Village's patron.
What partnerships does Village have?
Through ACOND, Village has relationships with UNESCO Cities of Literature including Dublin, Conakry, Edinburgh, and Heidelberg, as well as the University of Abuja, ITI Nigeria, the Association of Nigerian Authors, and the Embassy of Ireland Nigeria. Village is home to Abuja's UNESCO City of Literature designation — and to the institutions that led it.
What spaces are at Village?
The Village campus includes a professional theatre, black box laboratory space, film and music production studios, podcast facilities, the Museum of African Huts, and conference and MICE infrastructure — alongside the Mbari Plaza, Village Square, and open Amphitheatre. Spaces are coming online in phases. Use the contact form below to register your interest or begin a conversation.
Is Village really carbon-neutral?
Carbon neutrality is a founding design principle of Village — not a retrospective claim. The campus is being built to Gold Standard specifications, with solar energy, water recirculation, and 4,535 living trees and plants preserved on site. Afrocentric development is itself rooted in sustainable, carbon-eliminating and carbon-managing approaches — and these define every decision at Village. Formal Gold Standard certification is our active aim.
How can I invest in or partner with Village?
Village is actively engaging Development Finance Institutions, climate and culture funders, and strategic operating partners. We have a full investment brief available for qualified enquiries. Use the contact form below to open a conversation — select "Investment & Partnership" and tell us about your interest.
Can I book Village for an event?
Village is accepting expressions of interest for events as spaces come online. If your event aligns with Village's programming philosophy, we want to hear from you early — early conversations allow us to shape availability and secure Letters of Intent for inaugural programming. Use the contact form below and select "Event Booking".
How do I get involved as a creative practitioner or organisation?
Village is being built for creative practitioners — artists, filmmakers, musicians, writers, and cultural organisations. If you want to be part of Village from the beginning, tell us about your work and your interest. Use the contact form below and select "Creative Practice".
